A ridden Icelandic can handle most things, and a lead Icelandic can handle almost everything.  Notice the rump in the lower right corner, where a horse is being led
down the steep, trailless mountain.

An age-old trail.

 If a shoe is lost, the horse is lost...
Most Icelandic horsemen know how to shoe horses (even in rain, like here : )

Better walk carefully.

 Horses mountain-climbing in rocks.  If one horse is led up front, all the other follow.

Riding in the sea is also fun...

Here a herd of youngsters is being driven to the highlands for summerpasture.  There will be months untill they see people again.
