Examples of red dun horses

Icelandic: Bleikur.
Description: A light yellow-redish colour both on body and mane, with a red line going over the back, from mane to tail.  The middle of the tail can show some of this dark stripe, but it is usually very unclear.

Red duns can be a bit dark, like Dögg. This bright red dun color is called fífilbleikur. The difference between a fífilbleikur and an ordinary bleikur is that fífilbleikur has a flaxen mane.

Foal color:

The foal color is quite similar on a red dun foal and on an adult red dun, only lighter on the foal, that is, the foal grows a bit darker as it grows up. Here can a very definite feature be seen, all red duns have a stripe (eel) on their back, going from their ears back through the tail. A stripe can sometimes be seen on chestnuts, but the stripe on a red dun is a bit brownish, while the stripe on chestnuts is a bit reddish.  A foal from 1999 (son of Eva and Galsi from Sauđárkróki).
