The breeding goal of the icelandic horse for the quality "Hooves"


The hooves of the Icelandic horse should be deep with curved bottoms (soles). Very well formed, with thick horn, beutiful to look at. The horn should be of one color, preferably dark. The frog should be broad and the heels strong.

What are considered faults are mainly:
  • Shallow hooves, flat or wide, or with a prolapsed hoof bottom
  • Narrow hooves
  • Bad horn material, bad surface of the hoof
  • Little horn
  • Little frog
  • Little heels
