The breeding goal of the
icelandic horse
for the quality "Head".
The Icelandic
horse should have a fine, pretty head with good expression. The ears
should be thin and fine, rather closed, erect and with a good position
(high up on the head). The eye should be big, open, sensitive and
merry, and the frame around the eye should be pretty. The skin should
be thin and with fine coat. The chin/jaws should be thin and not
deep, with a good throatlatch. The noseline should be straight and
the nostrils open.
What
are considered faults are mainly
-Deep
and heavy jaws.
-Small
eyes.
-Narrow
frame around the eyes.
-A
very negative appearance (that is showing bad character),
-Ears
that are set low, even flapping and not raised.
-Coarse
ears, big ears, very open ears.
-Deviances
from a straight noseline.
-Very
short, small mouthopening.
-A
very coarse head, fleshy head.
Our
stallion, Sproti from Langhúsum, got 8,5 for head at evaluation.
C:
Lukka.
