Foal color:

The foal color is the same on a cremello foal and on a cremello adult.
A cremello foal shows it straight away, as opposed to a grey foal that is born with "a color". Svipur from Norđurstjarna, 1 week old.

Some genetics:
The cremello color is caused by a Ccr gene in the C-locus, on a horse with chestnut base color. The cremello has gotten the Ccr from both parents, that is, is homozygous CcrCcr. If you mate a cremello with a chestnut, all the foals are palomino.

To make it more complicated, a horse with a black or bay base color, that is also homozygous for Ccr, looks very similar to a cremello horse, exept the white color is often more yellowish than on a cremello. But, these horses are not called cremelloes, they are called perlinos or smokey cremes. The gene combination is a bit different, but the looks are virtually the same!

The color in different languages:
Norway: Glassoyd hvit.
Denmark: Albino
USA: Cremello
UK: Glasseyed white
Germany: Albino
Swedish: Gulvit
